Well, I have a girlfriend, Natalie.
Not only does she love God, his word, and his people, she is a constant, wonderful blessing to me. Sometimes, however, this excellent blessing brings new social, temporal, and spiritual obstacles. Those can be challenging, but I can definitely see how God is using even some little trials to sanctify me.
More than anything else, though, the best part of this change is that I can enjoy God with someone else. My favorite thing to do with Natalie is reading through both Spurgeon’s “Treasury of David”, in which he goes through the Psalms, giving extensive commentary, and “The Old Country” by Shalom Aleichem, which is the novel much of “The Fiddler on the Roof” is based on.
Did I mention she loves sports? The Beatles? The Beach Boys? Ah well…
School is taking up a lot of time. My hyper-competitive spirit is spending a lot of my energy focusing on winning at Fantasy Basketball as well.
But all in all, life is really good; I’m really enjoying just about everything I do.
There are two things I try to do when life is going well: 1) Constantly being mindful of my sin and how it may even infect my motives in the good I try to do and 2) Regularly thanking God for his provision, and relinquishing glory to him even if he should soon choose to take away circumstantial blessing.
